In a statement on Wednesday, FAAN’s Managing Director and CEO, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, condemned the officer’s actions as completely unacceptable.

The video, which has gained significant attention, shows the officer persistently asking a tourist for money and even offering to accept card payments. This incident has sparked public outrage and criticism, with some viewing it as indicative of a broader decline in national values and a failure of government systems to adequately compensate its officials.

Kuku assured that the officer has been removed from his post and is now undergoing disciplinary procedures with the NIS.

“I have seen the disturbing video of an NIS official begging for money at the airport,” Kuku stated. “Such behavior is entirely unacceptable and does not represent the standard of service we aim to provide.”

She added that FAAN is dedicated to upholding the integrity and professionalism of its personnel. Passengers are encouraged to report any similar incidents using the provided contact details.
