MASSOB’s leader, Uchenna Madu, firmly distanced the organization from any plot to interfere with the impending election.
Madu asserted that these individuals were falsely using the name of MASSOB to issue threats that could potentially disrupt the electoral process.
In a statement he issued, Madu declared that “no one can obstruct the Imo State governorship election on November 11, 2023.”
The statement conveyed the following: “We have observed that certain dissatisfied elements and impostors, who pose as pro-Biafran activists, are exploiting the self-determination movement for Biafra for their own personal gain and financial interests.
“They are utilizing the name of Biafra to engage in dubious activities related to a fictitious and non-existent Biafra government structure, such as Biafra Prime Minister, Biafra Republic Government in Exile, Biafra De facto government, and so on.
“We also recognize that this behavior could lead to a lower voter turnout, providing corrupt INEC officials with an opportunity to manipulate the Imo State Governorship Election against the people’s wishes.
“It is also a means of inciting chaos in Imo State, potentially opening the door for federal government intervention under the leadership of Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
“MASSOB warns these paid instigators, who are not friendly to our cause and claim to be pro-Biafran activists, to stop deceiving our people and commercializing the Biafran self-determination movement.”
