Dick-Iruenabere highlighted this issue during the swearing-in ceremony of Batch C stream 11 Corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Umunna, Bende LGA of the state.
The State Coordinator attributed the increasing trend of relocation requests to the perceived lack of a sufficient welfare package for Corps members in the state.
She appealed to Governor Alex Otti to address this matter and allocate a more comprehensive welfare package to reduce the desire for redeployment. Currently, 1,698 Corps members, comprising 891 males and 807 females, have been registered to commence their service year in the state.
The Director General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. Yusha’u Ahmed, advised the Corps members to adhere to camp rules and respect the cultures of their host communities.
He encouraged them to make positive impacts in the lives and history of the host community. Brig. Gen Ahmed assured that the administration is actively addressing the issue of improved allowances for Corps members.
Governor Alex Otti, represented by the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Mr Nwaobilor Ananaba, commended the NYSC DG for visiting the state and pledged ongoing support for NYSC initiatives, particularly in Skills Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development (SAED).
The Oath of Allegiance was administered to the Corps members by Justice Benson Anya on behalf of the Abia State Chief Judge, Justice Lillian Abai.
