The source revealed that the exact date for their assumption of office is not scheduled for the early part of the week (August 14 – 18), as it is not part of the President’s agenda for the new week.
President Tinubu wants to allow the nominees the rest of the week to plan and organize themselves, considering they will be traveling from various locations.
The first gathering of the ministers is projected to take place on August 16, coinciding with the usual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings, held on Wednesdays.
Previously, President Tinubu had forwarded the second batch of ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening. The list included prominent figures like former Governors Nyesom Wike, Dave Umahi, Mohammed Badaru, Bello Matawalle, Nasir El-Rufai, Simon Lalong, Gboyega Oyetola, Atiku Bagudu, and Ibrahim Geidam, representing Rivers, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Plateau, Osun, Kebbi, and Yobe states, respectively.
Furthermore, the President withdrew the nomination of Dr. Maryam Shetty from Kano State, opting to replace her with Dr.
Mariya Mahmoud, also from Kano. The final tally of nominees now stands at 48, with the addition of former Minister of State for Labour and Unemployment under President Muhammadu Buhari, Festus Keyamo (SAN).
