The 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has said that the party’s poor performance in the 2023 elections should not be blamed solely on Atiku Abubakar’s emergence as its presidential flagbearer.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television on Sunday, Jandor—who recently rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC)—claimed that many PDP stakeholders were overly domineering and failed to support the party’s collective interests.
He acknowledged the PDP’s commitment to democratic candidate selection, contrasting it with the APC’s strict enforcement of party loyalty.
“Credit to the PDP—they are very democratic when it comes to choosing candidates, which is commendable,” he said. “But it’s also the only party where you see leaders telling their followers, ‘Don’t support that candidate—it wasn’t my choice.’”
According to Jandor, although Atiku secured his candidacy through a transparent process, internal divisions and lack of unity within the PDP significantly weakened the party’s chances. Unlike the APC, he said, where members rally behind the chosen candidate, the PDP often suffers from disjointed loyalties and internal sabotage.
He stressed that despite a credible primary process, key leaders in the PDP worked against the party’s interest, ultimately contributing to its downfall at the polls.
