Sowore Fires Back: ‘Bail Is Not A Prison’ Amid El-Rufai Controversy
Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has criticised the legal handling of the case involving former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
His reaction follows the decision of a Kaduna State High Court to adjourn the hearing of El-Rufai’s bail application to the first week of June 2026.
In a post shared on Tuesday, Sowore expressed concern over what he described as the use of “lawfare” against El-Rufai, warning that legal processes should not be turned into instruments of intimidation.
He urged the judiciary to uphold the rule of law by granting bail where appropriate and ensuring that all defendants receive fair trials.
According to the activist, treating bail conditions as a way to unjustly detain or pressure individuals is wrong and should not be tolerated.
Sowore insisted that such practices are unacceptable regardless of the person involved, stressing the importance of fairness and justice in the application of the law.
He maintained that bail is a constitutional right and should not be used as punishment or a means of coercion.
