Stop Globe-Trotting! – Sowunmi Blasts Peter Obi Over Indonesia Visit
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Sowunmi, has once again criticized former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Sowunmi accused Obi of constantly switching political loyalties—from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the PDP, and then to the Labour Party—and now, according to him, “globe-trotting to Indonesia” while others like himself and presidential aide Daniel Bwala remain committed to Nigeria.
The attack came in response to a post by an X user, @King_solom60630, who compared Sowunmi to Bwala, accusing them of inconsistency and political flip-flopping. The user also accused Sowunmi of speaking “anyhow” after meeting a supposed CIA figure in Aso Rock.
In response, Sowunmi fired back:
“Your @PeterObi was busy jumping from APGA to PDP to Labour and now to Indonesia, while I’ve been standing with Nigeria. At least Bwala and I have stayed loyal to the country—your candidate now even dresses like an Indonesian. What an incredible joker.”
Meanwhile, Sowunmi hinted that he may soon part ways with the PDP if supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 requires it.
During an interview on Arise TV’s Prime Time, Sowunmi, a former PDP governorship aspirant in Ogun State, said he has spent 28 unbroken years in the party but is open to defecting if it aligns with his principles and political future.
“If I’m going to support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for president in 2027, then by God, I’ll leave and join his party,” he declared.
“If I’m not in the PDP, I’m not there. If I’m there, I’m there. Most of them don’t even have 28 days’ history in a party, but I’ve given PDP 28 years.”
He added that the PDP is in dire need of reform, and despite his repeated calls for change, the party leadership has remained unresponsive.
“Why would anyone in their right mind stay in a party that refuses to fix itself?” he asked.
“I’ve shouted, I’ve pleaded—we need to reform this party.”
When asked again about the possibility of defecting, Sowunmi didn’t hold back:
“There’s a very strong chance I’ll leave, looking at the state of things in my environment, my home state, my tribe’s desires, and my people. Yes, it’s a strong probability.”
