Wike’s Privatization Ambitions For Rivers Face Fierce Rejection From Fubara – Tam-George Speaks Out

Tam-George stated that the ideological divide between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Wike makes any cooperation between the two impossible.
In an interview with News Central on Friday, Tam-George accused Wike of attempting to seize control of the state’s resources for personal gain.
“The Governor has not taken any hostile action against the Minister. In fact, it is the FCT Minister who has been publicly attacking the administration, declaring his intent to destabilize the state. All the Governor is doing is safeguarding the interests of Rivers State. There has been no aggressive action by Fubara against the FCT Minister,” Tam-George clarified.
He went on to explain that the media often misinterprets the conflict as a personal feud between the two, emphasizing that the real issue lies in the FCT Minister’s desire to appropriate the state’s resources. “The governor insists that the resources of Rivers State should only be used for the benefit of its people,” he added.
Tam-George also ruled out the possibility of reconciliation between Wike and Fubara until the issue of resource control is addressed.
“This is an ideological battle between those seeking to privatize the state and seize its resources, represented by the FCT Minister, and the governor, who is committed to ensuring that the will of the people prevails,” he explained. “I don’t see how reconciliation is possible as long as this matter remains unresolved. The people of Rivers have the sovereign right to control their resources and use them for the state’s development.”
Tam-George urged Wike to allow Governor Fubara to fulfill his developmental agenda for the state. He expressed full support for Fubara’s efforts to protect Rivers State from privatization.
“I served in the previous administration under the current FCT Minister. My advice to him is simple: focus on his duties in Abuja and allow the Governor of Rivers State to implement the developmental agenda he has set for the people. This ongoing conflict is not personal, but stems from the governor’s insistence on stopping the privatization and capture of state resources. All resources intended for Rivers will now be used solely for the state’s development,” he concluded.
