In an official letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu, signed by the Chairman, Augustine Akinkunmi, and the Secretary, Adebayo Adubiaro, the group has appealed for the President’s intervention to ensure that Ondo State rightfully takes up the position of Managing Director.
The letter underlines the group’s position, stating, “It is the turn of Ondo State to produce the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission.
For several years, Bayelsa State has occupied this position, creating an imbalance in the representation of different states within the NDDC.”
The letter further highlights the current distribution of ministerial positions among different oil-producing states, asserting that considering these appointments, Ondo State’s claim to the Managing Director position is both just and equitable.
The group strongly believes that appointing a Managing Director from Ondo State would contribute significantly to the NDDC’s efficiency and success, given the state’s substantial expertise in the oil and gas sector.
They also point out that the current Managing Director’s tenure was meant to complete a residue term, emphasizing the need for fairness in leadership distribution.
