Niger State Governor Expresses Concern Over Rising Youth Substance Abuse And Restiveness

During the 2023 World Youth Day celebration, organized by the Niger chapter of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWINCAN), Governor Bago emphasized the theme: “Drug Abuse and Youth Restiveness, a Loss for Future Generations.”

He expressed his deep concern about the alarming rate at which young people are becoming deeply involved in substance abuse and highlighted the urgent need for a healthy generation free from the clutches of drugs.

Governor Bago pledged that the state government would collaborate with relevant agencies to combat drug abuse and youth restiveness, recognizing the importance of collective efforts in tackling the menace.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger, Rev. Bulus Yohanna, commended the youth wing of the association for bringing together key stakeholders to address the drug-related challenges affecting society.

Rev. Yohanna, represented by his Vice, Rev. Ezekiel Ibrahim, acknowledged the importance of this initiative in raising awareness and finding collective solutions to the influence of drugs on youth and their resulting restiveness.

Earlier, Mr. Emmanuel Loyin, the Chairman of YOWICAN in Niger, expressed the association’s concern about youth restiveness, which often leads to innocent citizens becoming victims of their activities fueled by drug use.

He emphasized that the event was organized to educate and sensitize the public about the necessity of collaborative efforts to combat drug abuse among young people.
