The governor had recently issued a statement stating that he had forgiven his deputy after Shaibu publicly apologized for initiating a lawsuit against the governor, the state house of assembly, and others over an alleged plot to impeach him.
A source reported, “I witnessed Catholic priests blessing the new office on Tuesday. It suggests that the Deputy Governor might relocate soon.
It has been a regular practice for the deputy governor to invite priests for monthly prayers in his office, so it’s not surprising that he’s continuing this tradition in his new office.”
Upon visiting the office, workers were observed completing the interlocking tiles in the compound, while a few staff members were seen carrying out their tasks.
One staff member confirmed that the deputy governor had not yet used the office but acknowledged that Catholic priests had visited to offer prayers and blessings.
During the peak of the crisis between Shaibu and Governor Obaseki, Shaibu received an official letter instructing him to move to the new office.
However, many observers believed that with the public apology and the governor’s acceptance, Shaibu’s relocation from his original office next to the governor’s might no longer be necessary.
