Consequently, this development thwarted the aspirations of Imo’s residents who had regarded the power shift to Owerri Zone as a significant political achievement after Orlu Zone’s 16-year tenure and Okigwe’s nine-year stint. Given that the Supreme Court’s verdict stood as an irrevocable mandate, Imo’s populace had to reconcile themselves to this unforeseen reality.
It would have been reasonable to anticipate that Uzodimma, having attained the governorship under exceptional circumstances, would strategically endeavor to secure the support and trust of the people.
However, contrary to such expectations, his closest allies seemed to originate from those responsible for his newfound position.
Regrettably, he distanced himself from the populace and displayed an attitude that seemed to disregard public opinion, as he wasn’t directly elected by the citizens.
