Speaking to journalists on Monday, the Speaker addressed an alleged intrusion into his Port Harcourt residence by suspected assassins.
He recounted how a group, accompanied by armed police personnel, forcefully entered his home at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, firing shots with the apparent intent to harm him and his family.
He asserted that the attacks began on October 30, following his public support for Governor Siminalaye Fubara, who faced an unjust removal attempt by some lawmakers.
“Due to our stance in favor of the governor, insisting that righteousness prevails in the state, my family and I have become targets of threats and attacks, particularly after my election as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly,” he stated.
Despite the adversity, Ehie expressed gratitude for the concern expressed by the people of the state and reiterated his unwavering support for Governor Fubara.
However, Mr. Olatunji Disu, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers, dismissed the Speaker’s allegations.
