The ceremony took place at Rockview Hotel Owerri on Friday and was attended by various dignitaries, including prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Uzodinma secured another four-year term after garnering the highest number of votes in the election, totaling 540,308 votes.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came in second with 71,503 votes. The announced results indicated that Uzodinma won in all 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
Defeating competitors such as Athan Achonu from the Labour Party and Samuel Anyanwu of the PDP, the re-elected governor’s victory was comprehensive.
In response to the election outcome, the LP governorship candidate, Achonu, expressed his refusal to congratulate Governor Uzodinma.
In a statement released through his spokesperson, Chibuikem Diala, Achonu asserted himself as the true winner of the election.
Achonu dismissed reports of visiting Uzodinma and offering congratulations as “wishful thinking” and labeled such rumors as a product of “evil minds.
He emphasized his rejection of the election result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and called for a review and cancellation of the results.
