Presently, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Adewale Nureni has assumed the role of the new DPO in charge of the Ahoada Police Division.
It is worth recalling that Richard was assigned to Ahoada on September 9, 2023, in the aftermath of the brutal murder of his predecessor, SP Bako Angbashim, who was killed by members of a suspected cult group on September 8, 2023, in the Odiemude community in Ahoada-East local government area of the state.
Insiders have indicated that the recent reassignment of the DPO might be linked to the unauthorized release of interrogation videos involving some suspects detained by the police in connection with Angbashim’s murder.
Sources familiar with the situation have mentioned that the leaked videos contained crucial information that could potentially undermine the ongoing investigation and hinder the apprehension of other suspects who are currently on the run.
One source commented, “We have learned that the police in the state were dissatisfied with how the interrogation videos of suspects, which have the potential to compromise the efforts to capture David Gift, also known as ‘2Baba,’ the prime suspect in the murder of SP Angbashim, were being leaked.”
