The organization argues that the warning strike, scheduled to commence today, has become an unavoidable necessity in light of emerging circumstances that have unmistakably exposed the government’s inconsistent and uncertain approach to its fuel subsidy removal policy, characterized by frequent changes in direction.
In a statement released and signed by its head, National Coordinating Centre, Wale Okunniyi, the leadership of organized civil society strongly criticized what they described as the federal government’s thoughtless policies.
These policies, they contend, have pushed millions of households that were previously managing with modest incomes below the poverty line.
The statement further compels all patriotic Nigerians in both the public and private sectors to unite with the NLC in demanding the reversal of these suffocating policies.
These policies, it argues, have been implemented unilaterally without sufficient justification or any coherent economic plan, except for making Nigerians bear the burden of the subsidy scheme’s corrupt mismanagement, a fact acknowledged by the government itself.
