At a luncheon honoring the 10th Legislative Assembly of Rivers State in Port Harcourt, Wike criticized Fubara for spending state funds without an approved budget. He asserted that the governor is improperly pursuing a matter that should be addressed in federal court at the state level.

Wike stated, “The state assembly is challenging an illiterate government that has no right to spend money without a budget. Consequently, the Central Bank and Accountant General cannot continue to release funds that aren’t budgeted.”

Wike Takes Aim at Atiku

In a separate incident, Wike responded strongly to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, calling him a “serial loser” after Atiku praised the recent local government elections in Rivers State. The Action Peoples Party (APP) won 22 out of 23 local government chairmanship positions, a result Atiku interpreted as a rejection of Wike’s leadership.

During the same luncheon, Wike pointed out Atiku’s electoral defeats, noting that after running as the PDP candidate in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections and losing both times, Atiku has been rejected by the Nigerian electorate.
