During this briefing, they presented the Federal Government with a set of six demands.
These demands include the immediate removal of the Commissioner of Police for Imo State, the Area Commander, and other officials suspected of being complicit in the mistreatment and degradation of Comrade Ajaero and his fellow workers.
In the absence of a satisfactory response from the government, the labor unions have set November 8 as the new deadline for a nationwide strike.
Earlier, individuals believed to be agents of the state and security personnel had attacked Ajaero and other labor leaders, vandalizing their vehicles, causing injuries, and stealing their personal belongings, including mobile phones, money, and ATM cards.
This occurred while the Labor leaders and others had gathered at the NLC State secretariat to initiate a scheduled protest addressing outstanding labor-related issues.
The NLC President, along with other national leaders of the NLC and their counterparts from the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
had convened at the state Secretariat in Owerri to protest several grievances, including unpaid salaries, allowances, pensions, gratuities, and non-compliance with the National Minimum Wage Act.
